Recently, several K-pop girl idols, including Oh My GirlŌĆÖs YooA and ApinkŌĆÖs Namjoo, have made their solo debut, recording meaning results. Among all of them, the results that MAMAMOO got as solo artists are undoubtedly outstanding. This year, Moonbyul, Solar, and Hwasa released their solo albums. And these three artists dominated the Top 3 of this yearŌĆÖs list of ŌĆ£Female Artists with the Best First Week Album Sales,ŌĆØ drawing keen attention.
Moonbyul, who became the first to release the solo album, sold 66,000 copies (based on Hanteo Chart) with her second mini-album, Dark Side of the Moon. This is the second-best record so far (as of Sept. 14).
Then, MAMAMOOŌĆÖs leader Solar released her first single, Spit It Out, in April. She sold 62,000 copies on the first day of its release, and 73,100 copies during the first week. Even five months later, it is still the best record.
Last month, Hwasa released her first mini-album, Maria. She gained immense popularity in Korean and in China, topping various music charts in both countries. Especially, she recorded 48,700 album sales in the first week, coming in third on the list. Meanwhile, MAMAMOO recently released their new song ŌĆ£WANNA BE MYSELFŌĆØ as a whole group.
